We're the Martinis. Two parents who met in kitchens and dining rooms, a couple of kids who are better travelers than we expected, and a standing rule that the day is built around one good table.

This trip was the big one — the romantic, uproot-everything, talk-about-it-for-years kind. We saved for it, argued about the route, and went. This is where we keep the map of it.

Why it's mostly about food and drink

Because that's how we remember places — by the market stall, the vermouth hour, the tomato that ruined all other tomatoes. Between the two of us there's a lot of restaurant years, and old habits travel well. Expect recipes, orders worth copying, and strong opinions about ice.
